Details
  • Ravens vs Buffalo: Starting at their 2-yard line, the Ravens moved 58 yards in eight plays before another clutch punt by rookie Sam Koch made Buffalo start on its 4.
"When your offense is moving the ball and you've got our defense, when your special teams are helping win the field position game, that's fun," Stover said. "The synergy on this team, it's just breeding confidence in one another." (Baltimore Sun)
  • Punter Sam Koch kept Buffalo pinned down. Returner Cory Ross showed some explosion, but he did fumble a punt. (Baltimore Sun)
  • A 38.3-yard average on punts usually isn't received positively. But rookie punter Sam Koch helped the Ravens win a battle for field position by keeping the Bills deep in their own territory.
Koch's kicks had Buffalo starting drives at its 12, 15, 20 and 4. Not bad for a sixth-round draft choice out of Nebraska on whom the Ravens were criticized for risking a pick.
"All year long, I don't (know) -- two kicks, one kick ... that were kind of like, 'Oh, boy, that looks like a rookie.' Other than that, just a huge change in field positions," Billick said. "Unbelievable for a rookie."
For the regular season, Koch averaged 42.9 yards on 86 kicks. He pinned opponents inside their 20-yard line 30 times.(Baltimore Sun)
  • Raiders vs Jets: The play of the game was Fabian Washington's twirling pass swat in the corner of the end zone on 3rd-and-goal at the Raiders' 4, forcing a field goal in the third quarter. (San Francisco Chronicle)
