  • Gore, Rucker And McBriar Named NFC Players Of The Week
  • Panthers vs Rams: For the first time since joining the Carolina Panthers in 1997, safety Mike Minter didn't make a tackle in a game he started. In every previous start, he had at least one tackle, and he's the franchise's all-time leader. That he didn't get one last Sunday in a victory over St. Louis was, in his opinion, a good thing.
"When I can go through a game and not have a tackle, you know we're dominating," Minter told the Charlotte Observer. "I didn't get close to anybody. That's what you call a dominating defense, when a guy can't even sniff a tackle." (LA Times)
  • Ravens vs Atlanta: The wind is picking up a little bit in downtown Baltimore, which is aiding Sam Koch's punts as he warms up in the minutes before the whistle. That could lead to Matt Stover getting extra distance on his kickoffs, as well.
  • Texans vs Bills: The Texans couldn't have gotten off to a worse start...After Andre Johnson ran for 19 yards on a reverse for a first down, David Carr threw deep down the right side for him. Carr was hit by defensive end Chris Kelsay as he threw. The ball was thrown short, and cornerback Nate Clements intercepted at the 13. (Chron.com)
  • Kicker Kris Brown extended his franchise-long scoring streak to 45 consecutive games. (The Sports Network)
  • Falcons vs Ravens: Weakside linebacker Demorrio Williams finished with 17 tackles. Middle linebacker Keith Brooking had 13. Both their roles could shift this week if Ed Hartwell is able to return, again, from surgery on both knees. With Hartwell in the lineup, Williams would come off the bench in nickel situations while Brooking would move to his natural spot at weakside linebacker. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  • Panthers vs Rams: Rucker, Panthers smother Rams
  • One of Mike Rucker's two sacks was the second time he was involved in a safety in his Panthers career. There have been four safeties in Panthers' history. (Panthers.com)
  • Eagles vs Titans: Donovan McNabb fired a pass toward Donte Stallworth, then tumbled out of bounds after being lightly shoved by Titans defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch. The tumble resulted in a torn ACL and the end of the season for McNabb. (AP)
  • Bengals vs Saints: Two of Kyle Larson's six punts were caught for fair catches and he had two punts inside the 20. Larson has not had a touchback in the last seven games. (CincyPost.com)
