Details
  • Huskers.com Week 10
  • 11/16/06 - Seahawks vs Rams: The NFL yesterday reversed a determination made Sunday and awarded linebacker Carlos Polk a sack for his forcing Bengals quarterback Carson Palmer out of bounds. Statisticians in the press box Sunday ruled Palmer was trying to run and thus credited Polk with a tackle. The sack gives the Chargers 34 on the season, moving them into a tie with Seattle for most in the NFL. (Union-Tribune)
  • Seahawks vs Rams: Seattle wins with another late field goal from Josh Brown
  • Brown buries Rams with another kick
  • A touchdown gave the Rams a 22-21 lead with 2:30 left, but a holding penalty on center Richie Incognito nullified Torry Holt's catch of Bulger's 2-point conversion pass, and Bulger's next conversion try was incomplete.
Incognito also had a personal foul at the end of the touchdown for jumping into a pileup after Jackson's helmet had come off in the end zone. That meant Jeff Wilkins had to kick off from the 15.
"I wanted to protect Steven — and it resulted in a personal foul," Incognito said. (Seattle Times)
  • Because of Incognito’s penalty, Wilkins had to kickoff from his own 15 and KR Josh Scobey took the kick back 33 yards, to the St. Louis 49 giving Seattle its best field position of the game (Seahawks.NET)
  • When an offensive lineman gets singled out for attention, it's usually a bad thing. But when an offensive lineman named Incognito gets singled out for attention, it's an amusingly ironic thing. So hats off to the Rams' Richie Incognito, for stepping out from obscurity by committing two late penalties that had a lot to do with his team's loss. (Washington Post)
  • Saints vs Steelers: The Saints defense, missing Fred Thomas but trigger by big performances by Charles Grant (4 tackles, batted down pass) and LB Scott Shanle (8 tackles, sack, hurry), forced a three and out and the Saints took the field again. (NewOrleansProFootball.com)
  • Spearheading the defensive side of the ledger for the Saints were linebacker Scott Shanle, with four tackles, four assists and one sack; free safety Josh Bullocks, five tackles and two assists; and strong safety Omar Stoutmire, four tackles and three helpers. (Sports Reports)
  • Texans vs Jaguars: Texans tackle Zach Wiegert tore an anterior cruciate ligament in his knee and will miss the rest of the season. (AP)
  • Patriots vs Jets: Trailing by three, the Patriots moved the ball to the Jets 46-yard line with nine seconds left. Tom Brady dropped back in the pocket, was immediately met by Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis and fumbled the ball. Patriots lineman Russ Hochstein recovered the ball, but time had run out and the Jets celebrated their 17-14 win around a prone Brady. (Boston Herald)
  • The Pats relied heavily on two- and three-tight end sets all afternoon, even lining up guard Russ Hochstein in the role on many snaps. (Boston Herald)
  • Broncos vs Raiders: Three interceptions give Raiders' offense some big chances
  • Oakland cornerback Fabian Washington wasn't wowed by Denver's offense. "They run a simple game plan," Washington said. "Plummer looks for Walker. He was throwing it up all day." (Denver Post)
  • Fabian Washington had two and got stiffed on a third when officials said he was out of bounds and nixed the challenge. (InsideBayArea.com)
  • 11/16/06 - Raiders head coach Art Shell disputed a call on an apparent interception by Fabian Washington near the sideline in the fourth quarter. The play was called incomplete on the field and the officials did not overrule the call because Denver receiver Javon Walker 's foot blocked the view of where Washington's heel landed.
  • Falcons vs Browns: Williams forces fumble to stop rout-- After Cleveland's Steve Heiden partially blocked a Michael Koenen punt and gave Cleveland the ball on Atlanta's 36, the Browns, ahead 14-0 with less 4 minutes left in the second quarter, appeared set to move ahead 21-0.
Cleveland running back Reuben Droughns slashed off right tackle for 8 yards, but linebacker Demorrio Williams came from behind and forced a fumble. Middle linebacker Keith Brooking recovered the ball but received an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty for spiking it. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  • Two Ralph Brown breakups help stop Atlanta's best offensive drive. When Ralph Brown is making plays, it is a good day for Browns. (Cleveland.com)
  • Bengals vs Chargers: P Kyle Larson didn't see much action but after a rare bad punt of 33 yards, the Chargers needed just one play to go 46 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter. (Cincinnati Post)
  • Kyle Larson’s punt took a favorable backward hop for the Chargers, who then took over with a short field at the Bengals’ 46. On the very first play, Rivers found Malcom Floyd deep down the right sideline and looped the ball to him over the coverage of Deltha O’Neal. In just seven seconds of elapsed game time, the Chargers now trailed by only SEVEN points, at 28-21. (Union Tribune blog)
  • Packers vs Vikings: Running back Ahman Green was held to 55 yards on 22 carries by the league's top rush defense Sunday, ending a three-game run for Green in which he rushed for at least 100 yards. (Packers.Scout.com)
  • Eagles vs Redskins: Buckhalter's immaculate play pays off with TD
  • Thumbs Down to Andy Reid for not getting Brian Westbrook out of the game early. Westbrook, who spent much of the first half of the season nursing a sore knee, finished with 25 touches, his most since 26 in Week 2 against the Giants, which is about when the knee started to bother him. Eight of those 25 touches came in a meaningless fourth quarter when Reid could have been giving Correll Buckhalter some needed work. (Philly.com)
  • MNF- Panthers vs Buccaneers: The Panthers created another break for themselves when safety Mike Minter recovered a Cadillac Williams fumble at the Tampa Bay 16-yard line. Four plays later, Brad Hoover scored on a 5-yard run. (Charlotte.com)
  • With linebacker Shelton Quarles out with a sprained ankle, second-year pro Barrett Ruud made a goal-line stop of Carolina running back DeAngelo Williams. Ruud also forced Carolina to punt on another possession in the first half, taking down Williams for a 1-yard loss. (Florida Today)
  • Barrett Ruud make an impact for the Bucs
  • Ravens vs Titans: Rookie punter Sam Koch had one of the more unrecognized and critical plays that impacted the outcome.
Koch corralled long snapper Matt Katula’s uncharacteristically high, errant snap and got it placed for kicker Matt Stover’s game-deciding extra point following Steve McNair’s touchdown pass to Derrick Mason.
“Sam continues to be a real professional in that area,” Billick said. “How big would it be for us to have a simple PAT and for it not to happen? Sam did a great job."
  • Punter Sam Koch continued his impressive rookie season by touching a kick down to the Tennessee 2-yard line in the 3rd Quarter. (BaltimoreRavens.com)
