Details
  • Huskers.com Week 8
  • Green Bay Packers: Green voted FedEx Ground Player of the Week
  • Titans vs Texans: Kris Brown made the best of a 27-yard field goal for the Texans to cut the lead to 7-3.
Tennessee defensive tackle Tony Brown recovered a David Carr fumble after he was sacked by Kyle Vanden Bosch and retuned it 40 yards for a touchdown with 0:18 left in the first half. Bironas' extra-point made the score 14-3 at the intermission. (T-G.com)
  • Vanden Bosch had two of his team’s four sacks against Houston. (FortWayne.com)
  • He also recorded 3 1/2 sacks and linebacker Keith Bulluck had three in the wins over the Texans. (SportsTicker)
  • Vanden Bosch: Sack Attack
  • Chargers vs Rams: After Steven Jackson's 3-yard scoring run cut the Chargers' lead to 14-7 at halftime, Jackson coughed up the football midway through the third quarter and San Diego safety Marlon McCree scooped it up and dashed 79 yards to restore the two-touchdown cushion.
"I actually dove on the ball at first and then I heard (Chargers linebacker) Carlos (Polk) yelling, 'Get up. Get up,'" McCree said. "Nobody touched me and I got a couple of great blocks and was able to hit the sideline. The rest was history, and it was just a great feeling hearing that crowd screaming. It was seven points and we needed it." (YumaSun.com)
  • McCreen told the Union Tribune- “If it wasn't for Carlos Polk, I wouldn't have scored that touchdown,” McCree said. “He told me to get up. It came at an important time. There was a huge momentum swing for us and we rode that momentum until the end of the game.” (Union Tribune)
  • Bears vs 49ers: Coach Lovie Smith referred to him as "Coach Brown," and safety Mike Brown was just that on Sunday. Brown's season as a player ended with his foot injury in Arizona, but he was on the sidelines Sunday, on crutches, helping replacement Todd Johnson, who had five solo tackles and two forced fumbles.
"There were some things where he came over to me and said 'Keep an eye on this' or 'Good job on that play,'" Johnson said. "He's always there helping out any way he can." (Chicago Tribune)
  • Panthers vs Cowboys: Losing Ground: Minter says Panthers need to make changes
  • Packers vs Cardinals: Packers' ground game grinds up Cards
  • Raiders vs Steelers: Second-year cornerback Fabian Washington notched his first career interception with a spectacular over-the-shoulder grab of a first-quarter pass from Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.
Fellow second-year cornerback Chris Carr one-upped Washington by stepping in front of a Steelers receiver at the goal line, snaring a Roethlisberger pass and returning it 100 yards for a touchdown in the fourth quarter.
Washington and Carr join fellow cornerbacks Nnamdi Asomugha and Stanford Routt and middle linebacker Kirk Morrison as players who recorded their first NFL interception this season.
Washington's pick was Oakland's seventh in seven games. The Raiders finished with a league worst five interceptions last season, a league record in a non-strike season.
Asomugha picked off his third pass of the season later in the first quarter and returned it 24 yards for Oakland's first touchdown. Overall, the Raiders had four interceptions. (InsideBayArea.com)
  • Chargers vs Cowboys: "...look at what Marques Harris and Carlos [Polk] did today in place of Shaun Phillips. They're kind of interchanging right now, and they're going to have to step up. The bottom line: We're not going to let one guy ruin our season just because we lost him." (Yahoo!Sports)
