Details
  • Cowboys vs Seahawks: Inside linebacker Scott Shanle was a surprise starter after working behind the first team the past two weeks. (DallasCowboys.com)
  • Colts vs Rams: For a guy who was just signed at the end of last week, safety Jammal Lord sure saw a lot of field time, and appeared to be holding his own out there. (ColtPower.com)
  • On his first carry of the night, Rams RB Steven Jackson broke off for a 16-yard gain behind some nasty blocks from Orlando Pace, Richie Incognito and new fullback Paul Smith. (Post-Dispatch)
  • Buccanners vs Jets: LB Barrett Ruud recovered the fumble forced by Kalvin Pearson and turned in three additional tackles. (Buccaneers.com)
  • For the Jets, Trevor Johnson made 5 tackles (4 solo) and forced a fumble; Titus Adams played but did not record a tackle. (NFL.com)
  • Prior to the game, NorthJersey.com noted that Victor Hobson, Bryan Thomas, Trevor Johnson and newcomer Matt Chatham would rotate at outside linebacker in the game.
  • Panthers vs Bills: Mike Minter will miss Panthers' exhibition opener due to the death of his mother.
  • Broncos vs Lions: TJ Hollowell was inactive due to injury (DenverBroncos.com)
  • C Dominic Raiola and FB Cory Schlesinger started the game for the Lions. Teammate Daniel Bullocks did not start at free safety but led the team in tackles with 7, he also recovered a fumble.
  • Ravens vs Giants: Baltimore Sun on Sam Koch prior to his first preseason game-- "The sixth-round pick has showed a big leg in camp, but he is still working with the second punt team (behind punter Leo Araguz). The Ravens want to see how he handles pressure situations in games."
  • In his first game-action, Koch didn't dominate the punting duties as he has in camp. He punted three times for a 33-yard average (compared to Araguz' three punt, 36-yard average). Koch's first punt was an average-skewing 22-yarder that put the Giants on their own 13. Unfortunately his second punt went only 39 yards to the Giants 43 where it was returned 57 yards for a Giants touchdown. His final punt was a 38-yarder to the Giants' 24.
  • Cory Ross carried the ball only once as a running back, gaining just two yards, but he saw a few more carries on special teams. Ross averaged 13.5 yards on two punt returns and 22 yards on two kick returns. (NFL.com)
