Details
  • 09/20/05 - Titans 25-Ravens 10: The announcers really did their homework in this one. During the game, Rich Baldinger called Kyle Vanden Bosch "Van Boesch" (with a long O) and later "Van Boeschen." He also referred to Baltimore's star CB as Tim McAlister. (Sports-Central.org)
  • 09/20/05 - Seahawks 21-Falcons 18: K Josh Brown appeared to be in for a long field-goal try in the first quarter, but quick-kicked instead for a 20-yard punt. Brown said he and Holmgren wanted to try the 52-yard field goal, but special-teams coach Bob Casullo's punt call won out. (The Seattle Times)
  • 09/19/05 - Browns 26-Packers 24: Bret Favre started the day 65 yards shy of the 50,000-yard mark and reached the milestone on a 17-yard pass to running back Ahman Green in the second quarter at Lambeau Field.
  • 09/19/05 - Chiefs 23-Raiders 17: Cornerback Fabian Washington, the Raiders' first pick in the 2005 draft out of Nebraska, saw his first action other than special teams, taking the field as a cornerback for the first time with 10:23 left in the third quarter. Washington replaced second-round pick Routt, who continued to have difficulties in coverage and with his tackling. (Oakland Tribune)
According to the Sacramento Bee, Washington replaced CB Nnamdi Asomugha, who was injured while covering Chiefs tight end Tony Gonzalez late in the third quarter.
  • Game Grade: Fabian Washington had no glaring errors in his debut. (Oakland Tribune)
  • 09/18/05 - Rams 17-Cardinals 12: Rams CB DeJuan Groce made a brilliant interception of Kurt Warner's long pass in the second quarter
  • 09/18/05 - Titans 25-Ravens 10: The Titans defense had six sacks against the Ravens, three of which were from Kyle Vanden Bosch. Vanden Bosch, who just missed a safety on the sack, also recovered a Jamal Lewis fumble. (AP)
  • St. Louis CB DeJuan Groce was as eager as any of the Rams to review the game tape. He wanted to get a good look at his eye-popping, one-handed interception. "Everybody said it was going to look nice on film, so I can't wait to watch it," Groce said. (Post-Dispatch)
  • 09/18/05 - Panthers 27-Patriots 17: Trying to prove its still among the league's best even without Jenkins, the Panthers line had its first big play of the season. Mike Rucker swiped the ball out of Tom Brady's hands and Julius Peppers scooped it out. He was stopped short of the end zone, but it put the Panthers in position for Davis' third touchdown of the game -- a 1-yard run that put them up 27-17 early in the fourth quarter. (AP)
