Details
  • 12/13/04 - Packers 16, Lions 13: In the second quarter, the Lions took a 10-0 lead when rookie running back Kevin Jones took a toss to his right, cut inside right tackle and accelerated behind center Dominic Raiola's blocking for a touchdown.
"It was a toss play," Jones said. "What made me shoot it up inside was instinct. I was stretching it out, looking for some blocks. It opened at the last second. (DetNews.com)
  • In the third quarter with the Lions leading 13-3, Favre threw a screen pass to running back Ahman Green, who went 79 yards down the left side for what appeared to be a score. But rookie center Scott Wells, starting for injured Grey Ruegamer, was called for holding.
"I didn't agree with [the call], but luckily we were able to keep that drive going and get some points," Wells said. (Star Tribune)
  • 12/13/04 - Patriots 35, Bengals 28: For Bengals punter Kyle Larson, it was just like his days as a junior high fullback. Trailing 35-14 late in the third quarter, Larson took a snap from Brad St. Louis. Instead of a Shayne Graham field goal attempt, Larson bolted up the middle for an 11-yard touchdown.
"We were going to make the call (a triple push) at the line if we saw a certain look," said a grinning Larson, whose last score was in junior high. "It came up and we ran it." (Cox News Service)
  • 12/13/04 - Panthers 20, Rams 7: Even through Rams DB DeJuan Groce was active Sunday after missing two games with a sprained knee, Rams coaches decided to go with Kevin Garrett as their third corner. (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
  • 12/13/04 - Seahawks 27, Vikings 23: Seahawks DE Grant Wistrom injured his left knee on the Vikings' next-to-last possession of the game.
Wistrom, who missed four games after fracturing a bone in his left knee in the Week 6 loss at New England, had to be helped from the field and was taken to the locker room on a cart.
"It's maybe a sprained MCL (medial collateral ligament). They don't think it's anything more than that," Wistrom said after the game.
Losing Wistrom for even one game -- which seems a certainty -- would be a blow to the Seahawks. They regained sole possession of first place in the NFC West yesterday but must travel to the Meadowlands this week to play the 10-3 New York Jets.
"Grant is very much a catalyst for our defense and we are so thin right now," Holmgren said. "He is pretty sore right now and he hurt it pretty good. I don't think they are thinking surgery or anything like that. But he hurt his knee." (Seattle Post-Intelligencer)
  • 12/13/04 - Bills 37, Browns 7: With Buffalo leading 20-7 with 56 seconds left in the third quarter, QB Jeff Garcia came in to rekindle the Browns offense but only lasted three plays before he lost the ball on a sack by DE Aaron Schobel and suffered a sprained left knee. Defensive end Chris Kelsay recovered the ball, and the Bills converted the turnover into Willis McGahee's second touchdown run. (AP)
Kelsay also had a sack for a 15-yard loss.
