  • 10/18/04 - Rams vs Buccaneers: Rams DB Dejuan Groce had 6 solo tackles and broke up a pass in the end zone that was intended for Michael Clayton. (AP)
  • 10/17/04 - Vikings vs Saints: In the second quarter, a blitzing Ralph Brown caused Saints quarterback Aaron Brooks to just overshoot Michael Lewis on a third-and-10 bomb. (St. Paul Pioneer Press)
  • 10/17/04 - Packers vs Lions: Ahman Green and Najeh Davenport combined for 143 yards on 31 rushing attempts and -- perhaps to make a point -- Green threw a 20-yard touchdown pass to Donald Driver for the final Packers touchdown in the fourth quarter. Green himself had 81 yards on 21 carries.
  • 10/17/04 - Panthers vs Eagles: Panthers defensive end Mike Rucker left Sunday's 30-8 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles with an irregular heartbeat. Rucker, who also experienced the same ailment last week, was removed after the first series of the game.
Rucker had 12 sacks last season and has registered just 11 tackles and no sacks this season for the 1-4 Panthers. (Sports Network)
  • 10/17/04 - Chiefs vs Jaguars: CB Eric Warfield leads the NFL with three interceptions and is playing like a Pro Bowler. On Sunday however, he dropped what could have been a game-chaning interception.
Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich nearly threw the ball into the arms of Warfield who let it skip between his arms as the ball fell to the ground so might have the Chiefs season.
A frustrated Eric Warfield said "I catch ‘em all week in practice and I can't get the one that counts." (KC Star, WarpaintIllustrated.com)
  • 10/17/04 - Chiefs G Will Shields started his 180th consecutive game, extending his record for the most total starts in Chiefs history. It was the 181st game Shields has played in during his tenure with the Chiefs. (KCChiefs.com)
  • 10/17/04 - Cowboys vs Steelers: The Cowboys only blitzed about six times in the entire game, but they were starting to affect Steelers QB Roethlisberger in the second quarter. Three times he was sacked in that quarter but the third was the most painful. Cornerback Tyrone Williams, playing his first game as a Cowboy, pulled the quarterback down on a sack and wrenched Roethlisberger's knee. An ice bag was put on the knee to minimize swelling.
Roethlisberger played despite the injury and the Steelers still managed to win an improbable come-from-behind 24-20 victory. (ESPN)
  • 10/17/04 - Falcons vs Chargers: Atlanta head coach Jim Mora took note of rookie linebacker Demorrio Williams, who had four tackles, including a third-down stop on Chargers QB Drew Brees in the fourth quarter.
"The guy just keeps jumping out to me," Mora said. (AP)
  • 10/17/04 - Seahawks vs Patriots: Josh Brown was 4 of 4 on field goals for Seattle, while Shaun Alexander scored the Seahawks' only touchdown in a loss to the Patriots. (Sports Network)
  • 10/17/04 - Can't fault Josh Brown on field goals, but if his kickoffs get any shorter the receiving team will be starting its drives at midfield. (SeattlePI.com)
  • 10/17/04 - Bears vs Redskins: Bears DB Jerry Azumah might have gotten a little help from a friend. He borrowed the shoes Mike Brown wore in the victory against Green Bay in honor his teammate, who suffered a season-ending Achilles tear in the game.
Brown returned a fumble 95-yards against the Packers, that turned the game in the Bears favor. Azumah did his best impression of Brown, as he returned an interception for a touchdown for the first time in the regular season. Coupled with two kick returns for TDs, Azumah has three career scores. (Bears.TheInsiders.com)
  • 10/17/04 - Bengals vs Browns: The situation looked dire for Cleveland after Cincinnati's Kyle Larson nailed a punt inside the Cleveland 1. What happened however, was a rare moment in football. Browns quarterback Jeff Garcia and receiver Andre Davis hooked up on a 99-yard touchdown pass, achieved for just the 10th time in NFL history. (Akron Beacon Journal)
  • 10/17/04 - Texans vs Titans: Texans QB David Carr threw for 266 yards and a touchdown, and Kris Brown kicked field goals of 21 and 50 yards, as the Houston Texans beat the Tennessee Titans for their first victory over the team they replaced in Houston. (AP)
