Patriots Win Again
- 02/07/05 - Super Bowl: With Eagles RB Correll Buckhalter on the IR and Patriots pushed into a reserve role earlier this season, it seemed unlikely that any Huskers would get TV-time in The Super Bowl, but one did.
In another close Patriots Super Bowl, New England took the lead for good when Corey Dillon crashes in from 2 yards early in the 4th. Russ Hochstein, lined up at fullback, got just enough of Brian Dawkins to keep him from tackling Dillon before crossing the goal line. (AP)
- 02/07/05 - Another view: If one were to point out a high virtue to the New England effort, it was player versatility. Two examples were obvious: Wide receiver Troy Brown also played a respectable cornerback and returned three punts. Linebacker Mike Vrabel also lined up as a goal-line tight end, and caught a touchdown in the third quarter.
But a less obvious one came on the Dillon score, when the fullback position ahead of Dillon in the I-formation was backup tackle Russ Hochstein, a 305-pound snowplow from Nebraska. Seattle Post-Intelligencer)
