  • 01/23/05 - Patriots 41, Steelers 27: The Patriots used backup guard Russ Hochstein as an extra tight end and as a blocking back in the running game. Hochstein saw several snaps as a third tight end.
Besides being the backup goal line fullback and third TE, Hochstein is also the backup long snapper for the Patriots. (Patriots.com, Boston Herald, PatsFans.com)
  • 01/23/05 - Both Super Bowl teams feature a Husker player on the roster but neither will see much air-time. Eagles RB Correll Buckhalter has been on the injured reserve since the season began and Patriots offensive lineman Russ Hochstein is a backup, despite beginning the season as a starter.
Of the teams that came up one game short of the Promise Land in Jacksonville- the Falcons had two Husker linebackers, Demorrio Williams and Eric Johnson; the Steelers meanwhile, were Husker-less this season.
