MVP poll:
38% Jay Foreman
35% Ahman Green
23% Grant Wistrom
4% Kris & Josh Brown

  • *Ahman Green named Week 12 NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • 11/23/03 - Seattle vs Baltimore: The Seahawks deflated in the second half and allowed the Ravens to comeback and tie the game at 41, they eventually won the game 44-41 in OT. 'Hawks K Josh Brown was perfect however, going 2 of 2 on field goal attempts of 45 and 46 yards while hitting all 5 extra points tries.
  • 11/23/03 - Chicago vs Denver: Free safety Mike Brown left the game briefly in the first half with a hamstring injury. (Chicago Tribune) Brown had 3 solo tackles in the Bears 19-10 win over the Broncos.
  • 11/23/03 - Philadelphia vs New Orleans: Philadelphia took a 17-0 lead after a 1-yard Correll Buckhalter run and went on to defeat the Saints 33-20. Buckhalter finish the game with 18 yards on 7 carries with an average of 2.6 (the lowest of any runner). (Shreveport Times)
  • 11/23/03 - With WR /return specialist Michael Lewis (sprained left ankle) sidelined for "a while", CB Keyuo Craver will take over the return duties. In Lewis' absence Sunday, Craver returned 3 kicks for 57 yards (19 yard avg) with a long of 21. His only punt return attempt was a fair catch.
  • 11/23/03 - New England vs Houston: Texans K Kris Brown scored the first points of the game with a 19-yard FG to give Houston a 3-0 lead but the Texans defense was needed for Houston to nearly upset the Patriots. LB Kailee Wong forced a fumble that Jay Foreman carried 33 yards to the New England 31; the Texans needed only five plays before Banks threw to a wide-open Billy Miller for a 16-yard score. (Houston Chronicle)
With 3:15 remaining, Kris Brown lined up a 31-yard field goal that put his Texans ahead, 20-13. It wasn't enough- the Patriots won 23-20, spoiling the Texans' dreams of an upset. (The Providence Journal)

Along with the fumble recovery, Foreman amassed a team leading 14 solo tackles and 2 assists).
  • 11/23/03 - When Patriots K Adam Vinatieri's game-winning kick sailed through, offensive guard Joe Andruzzi went down on his hands and knees from exhaustion. Nearby, center Dan Koppen lay on his back for several seconds.
"This was pretty tough," said Koppen. "I'll be surprised if I didn't lose a lot of weight. I didn't even see the kick go through. (Lineman Russ Hochstein) reached over to help me up and I said, 'Is it over yet?' He said, 'Yeah, it went through.' I was comfortable. I didn't want to get up." (The Providence Journal)
  • 11/23/03 - Dallas vs Carolina: The Cowboys drove 63 yards for the winning touchdown. And Cason produced the play on third-and-1 from the Carolina 16.
Cowboys fullback Richie Anderson took a handoff and headed off left tackle. Just as defensive end Mike Rucker crushed him, Anderson pitched the ball to Aveion Cason who scored the game winning touchdown on third-and-1 from the Carolina 16. Dallas won the game 24-20 (The Dallas Morning News)
"Oh, yeah," Mike Minter said when asked if they expected to win. "Oh, yeah. We hold them three-and-out and Jake (Delhomme) does his magic like he does every week." (Charlotte Observer)
Minter finished the day with 5 solo tackles while teammate Mike Rucker had 3 solo and 1 assist.
  • 11/23/03 - Kansas City vs Oakland: 41-year old Jerry Rice caught a milestone touchdown pass from Rick Mirer. He beat Eric Warfield on a slant pattern for a 47-yard touchdown, reception No. 1,500 and TD catch No. 193, both NFL records. Kansas City 27, Oakland 24. (AP)
  • 11/23/03 - CB Eric Warfield suffered a right elbow contusion (Pittsburg Morning Sun, KS)
  • 11/23/03 - Tennessee vs Atlanta: Falcons CB Tyrone Williams was held out of the game once again. No doubt Williams is regretting having signed with the Falcons after playing for the Packers in 2002. Atlanta defensive coordinator Wade Phillips has kept Williams off the field withough reason.
  • 11/23/03 - St. Louis vs Arizona: When DE Grant Wistrom got his paws around Cardinal quarterback Jeff Blake, a desperate attempt to throw the ball away sailed right to Ram cornerback Travis Fisher just minutes into the second half. Fisher took it 57 yards into the end zone.
"It was great pressure by Grant," Fisher said. "I saw the quarterback about to scramble out so I just came off the receiver and he just threw it right at me." (St. Louis Post-Dispatch)
Grant also had 5 tackles in the Rams' 30-27 win over Arizona.
  • 11/23/03 - Green Bay vs San Francisco: Ahman Green ran through San Francisco's stingy defense for 154 yards on 27 carries. Green set franchise records with his fourth straight 100-yard game and his eighth of the season. He also surpassed John Brockington as the second-leading rusher in team history, trailing only Jim Taylor. Overall, Green Bay gained 243 yards on 48 carries. (AP)
  • 11/23/03 - The Green Bay Packers have become a modern-day meat grinder with Brett Favre now cast as a supporting actor.
The stunning, even unfathomable transformation of the Packers from a passing team to a running team continued apace Sunday in the gloom and slop of Lambeau Field with their 20-10 victory over the San Francisco 49ers.
"You hate to say this, but you've got to put it in Brett's hands," 49ers secondary coach Brett Maxie said. "It's unbelievable the way things have turned around for those guys."
"Our guys played hard, I didn't think our calls were bad and we had eight in the box," 49ers linebackers coach Greg McMackin said. "But the running back was real patient so at times we overran it. I thought they did an outstanding job of attacking us."
McMackin, Maxie and defensive line coach Dan Quinn all used the same word - "patient" - to describe Ahman Green, Najeh Davenport and Tony Fisher. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
  • 11/23/03 - After the game Ahman Green told ESPN that they run the ball better in the third and fourth quarters because they wear down the opponent. Green added that he was reminded of his "old days at Nebraska".
A side-note: For the first time this season Green was without a single pass reception.
  • 11/23/03 - Punter Bill LaFleur's six punts generally were awful, including a line drive of 36 yards that was returned 13 yards and had 15 yards tacked on when the 49ers roughed Antonio Chatman. (Milwaukee Journal Sentinel)
  • Tyrone Williams did not play (benched).
