- 11/10/03 - Green Bay vs Philadelphia: If you're interested in the material on this site then you probably watched the Monday Night Football game between the Packers and the Eagles and kept a close eye on each team's running backs: Correll Buckhalter and Ahman Green.
The Packers go as Green goes but Monday night it didn't quite work that way. Green ran for a Packers single-game record 192 yards and added 32 yards receiving but the home-town Cheese heads saw their team lose to the Eagles 17-14. Early in the game Green's chronic fumbling problem reared its ugly head when he fumbled the ball on two consecutive drives, the first of which was recovered by Philadelphia. The Packers, and Green, fixed the problem by switching arm-bands to help give Ahman's elbows a better grip on the ball.
On the other side, Buckhalter started the game but only had 9 carries for 23 yards, a few shy of Green's total but Buckhalter and friends still got the bragging rights.
- 11/10/03 - Houston vs Cincinnati: Cincinnati trailed the Texans 24-17 before Johnson scored on a 17-yard run with 8:09 left in the third quarter. Houston briefly regained the lead on a 33-yard field goal by Kris Brown that ricocheted off the left goalpost with 1:47 left in the period, but Cincinnati countered with a one-yard touchdown run 4:04 into the fourth quarter to give the Bengals the 27-24 lead for good. - 11/10/03 - NY Giants vs Atlanta: CB Ralph Brown left late in the third quarter with a dislocated right shoulder and will likely miss at least one game.
"I tried to pick my arm up but it was just hanging down to the floor," Brown said. With Will Peterson already sidelined with a stress fracture in his back, it appears rookie Frank Walker will have to start at corner next week in Philadelphia. (NY Post)
- 11/10/03 - NY Giants vs Atlanta: Former starting right cornerback Tyrone Williams was inactive for the second straight week, and just the third time in his eight-year career. The first time came last season, when he missed a game because of a hamstring injury while with the Packers. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- 11/10/03 - Carolina vs Tampa Bay: S Mike Minter made a diving interception and returned it 29 yards for a touchdown to put the Panthers up 7-0; Mike Rucker also added another sack to his NFL lead (11).
Tampa Bay offensive tackle Kenyatta Walker was flagged three times for personal fouls, grabbing the face mask of Carolina's Mike Rucker, against whom he obviously was overmatched.
"He's garbage," Panthers DT Kris Jenkins said of Walker. "He talks too much. I really don't attack people, but when you talk that much and you've got to hit somebody's face mask every play because you cannot block fundamentally by yourself, you ain't even supposed to be in the league. He's horrible." (Atlanta Journal-Constitution).
Also consider that as late as Saturday, Rucker's status for the game was listed as questionable with an ankle injury. Carolina won 27 - 24.
- 11/10/03 - St. Louis vs Baltimore: The Rams managed only 121 yards of total offense, yet they still managed to put 33 points on the board Sunday night in their 33-22 win over the Ravens. The game was won by the Rams defense, including DE Grant Wistrom.
Tyoka Jackson and Wistrom wouldn't permit themselves to be blocked. And all of the Rams D-linemen won their battles with the Ravens for one reason: they wanted it more. (St. Louis Post)
- Tyrone Williams did not play (benched).
