  • *Ahman Green was awarded with Monday Night Football MVP honors.
  • *Mike Rucker named Defensive Player of the Month (September).
  • *Ahman Green named Week 4 NFC Offensive Player of the Week.
  • 09/29/03 - Green Bay vs Chicago: Before the game Mike Brown said of his former Husker teammate Ahman Green: "He makes a lot of people miss and breaks a lot of tackles." "We're friendly with each other, but at the same time I'm going to try to take his head off." Well, Mike tried but Ahman got the best of Brown and his Bear'mates. Green earned Monday Night Football MVP honors with a career best 176 rushing yards that came on just 19 carries (that's a not too shabby 9.3 yard average). Green also added two touchdowns in the Packers 38-23 (not as close as the score indicates) win. The first score was a 60 yard burst up the sideline that came on the Packers' opening drive, and the second TD saw Green nearly taking Brown's head off on his way into the endzone. Even the tough-as-nails, sure-tackling Brown wasn't going to stop Ahman on Monday night. Brett Favre said that "before the game, Ahman was fired up."
  • 09/29/03 - St. Louis vs Arizona: Dejuan Groce returned four punts for a total of 36 yards; his longest return was 18.
  • 09/29/03 - San Francisco vs Minnesota: 49ers' punter Bill Lafleur's job has been on thin ice since his eratic performances in 2002, but Lafleur continues to thicken that ice as the 2003 season drudges on. This week he pulled off a decent performance, 3 punts for a 33.7 yard average while also pinning one inside the 20 yard line.
  • 09/29/03 - Philadelphia vs Buffalo: After two Eagles losses the Philadelphia press had pointed to the lack of carries by the young RB duo of Buckhalter and Westbrook as the key problem. This week they got their carries, the Eagles finally got a win and Correll Buckhalter got a touchdown. Though not an entirely impressive performance (11 carries for 25 yards), it was far better than the two previous games combined where Buckhalter carried the ball just once.
  • 09/29/03 - Houston vs Jacksonville: The Texans used a 48-yard field goal by Kris Brown early in the third quarter to take a 17-10 edge, with two seconds left in the game and down by three the coach Dom Capers went for the win. QB David Carr took the snap, leaned forward behind linemen Steve McKinney and Zach Wiegert and stuck the ball over the goal line for a 24-to-20 victory. (AP)
  • Texans LB Jay Foremen led the team in solo tackles with six (7 total) and had one pass defended, as well as a forced fumble and recovery.
  • 09/29/03 - New England vs Washington: G Russ Hochstein got his first NFL start in the Patriots' 20-17 loss to the Redskins.
  • 09/29/03 - Oakland vs San Diego: Safety/linebacker Eric Johnson intercepted the first pass of his four-year NFL career in the second quarter.
  • 09/29/03 - Detroit vs Denver: Center Dominic Raiola was penalized twice for chop block penalties, one of which involved Cory Schlesinger. Raiola said he was "trying to be more aggressive" but the penalties took away an opportunity for Detroit to move into position for the go-ahead field goal. The second occurred after a pass completion to the Broncos 37-yard line. (LionsFans.com)
  • 09/29/03 - Carolina vs Atlanta: Mike Minter had 6 tackles and his Panther teammate DE Mike Rucker posted two sacks versus the Falcons, giving him five in three games. (Panthers.com)
