  • Green Bay vs Detroit: With starter Darren Sharper surprisingly playing almost the entire game Sunday, backup safety Marques Anderson not only didn’t see much action in the Green Bay Packers’ base defense but also might have been demoted in the dime package as well. Anderson had been one of the two extra defensive backs in the Packers’ dime package through training camp and the first week of the season. But in the Packers’ 31-6 win over Detroit on Sunday, backup cornerback Erwin Swiney replaced Anderson as a slot cover man in the dime. (PackersNews.com)
  • NY Giants vs Dallas: Ralph Brown did quite well in the Giants OT loss to the Dallas Cowboys on Monday Night Football... Brown gave the Giants their first score of the game when he intercepted a Quincy Carter pass and ran it back 29-yards for a touchdown. Brown also had a forced fumble and was credited with 3 solo tackles.
  • Kansas City vs Pittsburgh: Steelers comeback hopes were already slim after KC went up 41-20, but their chances were dead after QB Tommy Maddox threw his third interception of the game to Eric Warfield on 4th down.
  • 09/15/03 - San Francisco vs St. Louis: The 49ers got their second consecutive solid performance from punter Bill LaFleur, who had a net average of 37.3 yards. (Oakland Tribune)
  • Seattle vs Cincinnati: Seattle kicker Josh Brown recorded his second touchback Sunday, giving him two more than Rian Lindell had all of last year. (Herald.net)
  • Philadelphia vs New England: Correll Buckhalter started for the Eagles last week but this week Duce Staley got the starting nod in a 31-10 loss to the Patriots. Buckhalter, whom Reid adorned with the title of starting halfback for the Birds has had one carry for zero yards and 1 catch for for 21 yards in both games.
When asked why Buckhalter has not seen more touches, Reid's only response was,"I probably should have gotten (the ball to) him more."
Buckhalter refused to stir up any trouble, but he did say that the three-headed rotation of himself, Duce Staley, and Brian Westbrook was a difficult one for Reid to navigate.
"It's really hard, but I kind of stay poised," Correll Buckhalter said. "It's really hard for (Reid) to please each one of us."
As a result of the lack of run production, McNabb is facing defenses blitzing him incessantly, and pass coverages that his receivers are having a hard time getting open against. (ComcastSportsNet.com)
  • Green Bay vs Detroit: Ahman Green rushed 23 times for 160 yards (109 by half-time), including a 65-yarder for a score on his first carry in Green Bay's 31-6 win over Detroit. (AP)
In the process, Ahman became the fourth running back in Packers history to top 4,000 career yards!
  • Green Bay vs Detroit: Packers reserve CB Erwin Swiney saved a touchdown by pulling down WR Charles Rogers at the four on 3rd-and-goal from the Packers' five. Detroit had to settle for a Jason Hanson field goal. (Detroit Free Press)
  • Green Bay vs Detroit: In week 1 FB Cory Schlesinger caught three passes for 30 yards, including an eight-yard touchdown catch- this week he at least two dropped passes in the Detroits 31-6 loss. (San Jose Mercury News)
  • Atlanta vs Washington: AtlantaFalcons.com reports CB Tyrone Williams suffered a neck injury on Sunday, Sept. 14. The injury is believed to be minor. (KFFL)
  • Carolina vs Tampa Bay: Panther K John Kasay kicked four field goals, including a 47-yarder with 3:28 remaining in overtime, to lift Carolina to a wild 12-9 victory over Tampa Bay at Raymond James Stadium. The Panthers (2-0) blocked three kicks, including one on an extra-point attempt at the end of the regulation, and have won their first two games for the second consecutive year. (AP)
Mike Rucker following the win- "I'm hurting in every joint possible," Rucker said. "That was tough, but that's what we love to do. Basically it was a back-alley street fight, two teams just slugging it out. Fortunately, we were the ones left standing when it was done.
"I really feel the things we went through last year, we've had a lot of those same things pop up in the first two games. We showed we learned a lot from that."
As they stampeded toward the locker room Rucker added "We shocked the world, shocked the world, shocked the world, To be the best, you have to beat the best. And we just did." (a nod to Christian Peter?)
And from Minter, this exclamation mark. "You'd better start believing." (Tampa Tribune)
